Kayla Yazdi is an Iranian-Canadian wearable art designer. She expresses individuality through fashion as abstract but functional art. Kayla is motivated by the challenge of pushing boundaries within the fashion industry, blurring the line between production and visual art by transforming garments into installations and wearable art.
Kayla is the co-producer and creative director of Fashion X Electronics, a non-profit collective that merges fashion, music, and technology with other artistic disciplines. After relocating from Iran to Canada, she developed her artistic practice by earning a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design & Technology and gained valuable experience working in the Fashion industry. She further expanded her practice by attending multidisciplinary artist residencies such as Cortex Frontal in Portugal, Château Orquevaux in France, Hospitalfield in Scotland, and Domaine de Boisbuchet in France. Kayla’s work has been exhibited internationally, including in England, Iran, France, and the United States.
